LG starts an offensive in the smartphone middle class: The K series receives three new models, all of which share an almost identical housing and a 6.5-inch display. A quad camera is already available in the cheapest model, USB-C will also become standard at LG in 2020.

LG announced the 2020 K-series in a press release today. Also included are the K61, the K51S and the K41S, the successor to the LG K40S (124.99 euros on Amazon). LG claims to have improved overall performance and LG brings quad cameras, while a punch-hole camera replaces the previously used notch. All models come with a quad camera, which consists of a high-resolution main camera, a wide-angle lens, a depth sensor (ToF) and a macro lens.

All three devices have a shockproof, MIL-STD-810G certified housing, a fingerprint sensor, a 4,000 mAh battery, LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, a Google Assistant button and a slot for a microSD memory card.

LG K61: Solid equipment with 48 MP main camera
The new K series is led by the K61, which stands out above all with its 48 megapixel main camera – after all, the highest resolution camera that has ever been installed in a smartphone from LG. The macro camera and the wide-angle camera have a resolution of 5 and 8 MP, respectively, higher than the rest of the K series, where they are only equipped with 2 and 5 MP sensors. The selfi LG brings quad cameras has a resolution of 16 MP.The display in 19.5: 9 format also has a decent bit higher resolution than that of the cheaper models with Full HD +. There is also a 2.3 GHz octa-core processor, not described, 4 GB RAM, 64 or 128 GB ROM and a dual-band Wi-Fi chip.

LG K51S: the pink center
The K51S is available in a dark gray-looking “Titan” finish and in a slightly more striking pink. The device uses the same CPU as the K61, but with only 3 GB RAM and without the option to increase the memory to 128 GB.

The main camera in this model has a resolution of 32 MP, the selfie camera has a resolution of 13 MP. The 6.55 inch display only resolves here with HD +.

LG K41S: Inexpensive device with a round configuration
LG saves the K41S in several places compared to the K51S: the processor is a 2.0 GHz octa-core SoC, the internal memory has been reduced to 32 GB. The main and selfie cameras don’t have quite as high a resolution of 13 or 8 MP. Apart from these savings measures and the matte back, the device is practically identical to its more expensive brother.

Pricing & availability
The 2020 K-series from LG will be available in Germany from April. The manufacturer has not yet commented on the prices, but the K41S, like its predecessor, will probably start at an MSRP of around 159 euros. LG promises a “competitive” price for all devices.
