With the MB 01, Montblanc is entering the high price segment for wireless over-ear headphones. The company wants to combine excellent sound quality with a chic design and top workmanship.

Smart features and sound from Alex Rosson
To keep up with the current competition, Montblanc uses a Qualcomm QCC5124-SoC that supports Bluetooth 5.0 including aptX HD and aptX Adaptive. In addition, active noise suppression is used, which is supposed to effectively reduce the outside noise from a bus or plane, for example.

The battery should last at least 20 hours, is charged via USB-C. As long as you can do without active noise reduction, the headphones can also be operated via an audio cable, even if the battery is empty.

Equalizers can be configured via an associated app to adapt the sound image to its preferences. If Google Assistant is available on the connected smartphone, the headphones can be controlled via the voice assistant. There are dedicated buttons, a central button on both sides allows the usual control of the playback and the skipping of a song.

Since Montblanc hardly has its own audio know-how, the company worked with Rosson Audio Design, so that the first over-ear headphones from the fashion brand are very promising when it comes to sound quality.

Price & availability
The Montblanc MB 01 will still be available worldwide in March 2020, the price is a comparatively steep 590 euros. Customers can choose from three models: one with black leather and a metal finish in silver, one with brown leather and gold metal, and one with white leather with a polished metal finish.
