Tomogunchi looks like a Tamagotchi smartwatch, but the virtual pet feasts on the death of its enemies. It is high time to train your multitasking skills to collect kill streaks and take care of the little ones at the same time.

Activision chose a Tamagotchi-style virtual pet that grows through kills and other in-game activities when it came to choosing a new DLC for Call of Duty Modern Warfare. But Tomogunchi is real, as the company’s blog entry shows. The DLC will be available this week in the in-game store for 1,000 CoD points, which cost around ten euros on Amazon. The bracelet clearly alludes to the hype surrounding the Tamagotchi from the 90s, where you first had to hatch an egg and then take care of the virtual pet. Tomogunchi works very similarly.

Once downloaded and equipped, you see an egg that hatches over time. If you press up on the D-Pad, you can look at the watch at any time to check on the little one.

Instead of feeding it or changing diapers, all of the virtual pet’s needs are met by performing in-game actions such as winning a round or killing an opponent. Eventually it grows into a child, a teenager and an adult. However, if you lose too often, Tomogunchi becomes sad and can even die.

We are not yet sure whether this DLC is a testament to genius or madness. But if you want to find out for yourself what’s in the little thing, you should check the Modern Warfare Item Store and take a closer look at the digital nostalgia trip.
